Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

  • Leave your prescription counterfoil with the items required ticked at the reception desk/post box.
  • Send in the post
  • NHS App
  • Patient Access – please contact Reception for your pin

Repeat prescriptions are not to be requested by phone, as this carries the risk of mishearing drug names or dosages so we do encourage you to use a written method when possible.

If you require repeat medication when we are closed, please ring 111 for an emergency supply.

If you have run out of your medication and we are open, please contract Reception as soon as possible and we can organise a same-day signed prescription to take to the chemist of your choice.

Collecting your prescription

Your medication can be collected during regular opening times.

It would be very helpful if patients could advise our staff when ordering the prescription online which site they wish to collect it from.

Please allow 7 FULL WORKING DAYS for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Please provide evidence of your exemption to the staff when collecting. We are not responsible for determining whether you are exempt or should pay for your prescription –  it is patient responsibility.

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

About Pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
